I like planets with chunks of excitement in the sky!

Some kind of compositional sketches. This and body language and perspective and color and cars, and clothing, just a few things to work on. Faces and hands aren't work, they're play, 'cause I enjoy doing them. That's probably why they're a lot better than everything else I draw.
Stephen King's book on writing, called appropriately ON WRITING, has an interesting bit where he puts forth the idea that talent is what you enjoy doing, kind of where your passion lies, really. Someone who practices drawing because they love to draw all the time, anything they can, they have the talent for drawing. They enjoy it more than people who feel like it's work, and so they do it more, and so they get better.
I like that way of thinking of talent, because it doesn't completely dismiss people who say "oh you're so talented, I wish I could do that," because you are talented at that particular thing... but it also doesn't ignore the fact that you have to practice a lot in order to get that good, talent or not.
Anyway, that's my thought for the day. I ONLY HAVE THE ONE, so savor it.
